Kevin Mayhew
MAYHEW, Kevin. b. 13 December 1942; d. 14 January 2021. Kevin Mayhew had a great influence on the development of hymnody in the second half of the 20th century. He was educated at Westminster Cathedral Choir School where the Master of Music was the legendary George Malcolm. Malcolm inspired Mayhew and gave him all the practical assistance he needed to establish a career in music publishing. He joined the old-established Catholic publisher L.J. Cary, where he quickly became a Director in recognition of the brilliance of his work. He began the work on Cary’s The Parish Hymn Book (1968).
