Joseph Stammers
STAMMERS, Joseph. b. Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, 1801; d. London, 18 May 1885.
The following is taken verbatim from Charles Rogers’s Lyra Britannica (1867), from which all subsequent biographies are derived:
Joseph Stammers was born at Bury St Edmunds, in 1801. Educated for the legal profession, he practised for some years as a solicitor in the city of London. In 1833 he was called to the bar, and joined the Northern Circuit. Mr Stammers continues to practise as a barrister.
