Joseph Francis Thrupp
THRUPP, Joseph Francis. b. Guildford, Surrey, 20 May 1827; d. Kingston, Surrey, 24 September 1867. He was educated at Winchester College, and then at Trinity College, Cambridge. He became a Fellow of Trinity in 1850, and took Holy Orders (priest 1852), taking the living, in the gift of the College, of Barrington, near Royston, from 1852 until his death. He published Antient Jerusalem. A new investigation into the history, topography and plan of the city, environs, and temple (Cambridge, 1855), An Introduction to the Study and Use of the Psalms (2 volumes, 1860), and A Revised Translation of the Song of Songs (Cambridge, 1862).
