John Wesley Work (II)
WORK, John Wesley (II). b. Nashville, Tennessee, 6 August 1872?; d. Nashville, Tennessee, 7 September 1925. Work was assisted by his brother, Frederick Jerome Work*, in leading the Fisk Jubilee Singers*, 1898-1904. Arrangements developed for the Singers were edited and published in Frederick’s New Jubilee Songs, as Sung by the Fisk Jubilee Singers (Nashville: Fisk University, 1902). Although Work (II) is sometimes listed as a co-editor of New Jubilee Songs, his name does not appear in that publication.
