John Bakewell
BAKEWELL, John. b. Brailsford, Derbyshire, 1721, date unknown; d. Lewisham, London, 18 March 1819. He became an evangelist and moved to London where he associated with the early Methodists, beginning to preach for them in 1744. He also had connections with other evangelicals such as Martin Madan* and Augustus Montague Toplady*.
