John Alexander Motyer
MOTYER, John Alexander (‘Alec’). b. Dublin, 1924; d. 26 August 2016. He was educated at the High School at Dublin and at Trinity College (BA 1949, MA 1951); and then at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He was ordained (deacon 1947, priest 1948), serving as a curate at Penn Fields, Wolverhampton (1947-50) and Holy Trinity, Bristol (1950-54). During the first years of the second appointment he was tutor and then Vice-Principal of Trinity College, Bristol (1950-65) After a period at St Luke’s, West Hampstead (1965-70) he returned to Bristol, first as Deputy Principal, Tyndale Hall, and (after its amalgamation with Trinity College) Principal of the United College (1971-81).
