Johann Wilhelm Meinhold
MEINHOLD, Johann Wilhelm. b. Netzelkow, on the Island of Usedom, 27 February 1797; d. Charlottenburg, Berlin, 30 November 1851. The son of a Lutheran pastor, he studied Theology, Philosophy and Philology at the University of Greifswald. He spent most of his life on the Island of Usedom: after graduation he became private tutor to the family of the local schoolmaster, and then priest at Koserow (1821-26), and at Krummin (1826-44). In 1844 he moved to the mainland to be pastor of Rehwinkel, near Stargard in Pomerania (now Szczeciński, Poland).
