Johann S. Buis
BUIS, Johann S. b. Mossel Bay, South Africa, 22 October, 1955. Buis’s scholarly interests range from the performance history of early music, and integrating musicology, ethnomusicology, and cultural theory, including the aesthetics and reception history of black music between the United States and urban centers in Africa. He has been active in interdisciplinary scholarship. Buis holds degrees and diplomas from London University, Ball State University, the University of Cape Town, and University of the Western Cape, South Africa, and the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, Austria.
