Jesus only is my motto. Charles Price Jones* (1865-1949).
Regarded as Jones’s signature hymn, ‘Jesus Only’ was written in 1899, two years after Jones’s first Holiness Convention. It appeared initially as No. 1 in the author’s Jesus Only, Songs and Hymns (Jackson, Mississippi, 1901) and remains the first hymn in the most recent Church of Christ (Holiness) USA hymnal, His Fullness Songs (Jackson, 1977). At the time of its composition, Jones had firmly been rejected by many Baptists in Jackson and throughout the state of Mississippi.
