Jesse Edgar Middleton
MIDDLETON, Jesse Edgar. b. Pilkington Township, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada, 3 November 1872; d. Toronto, 27 May 1960. He was educated at Strathroy and Dutton, Ontario; he attended Ottawa Normal School and taught school (1892-95). He took a job in Cleveland, Ohio, as a proof-reader and copyist for a book publisher, before returning to Canada to the city of Quebec as a reporter for the Montreal Herald. After five years he joined the Mail and Empire in Toronto as a music critic, becoming a feature writer for the newspaper. From 1942 he continued in that role with Saturday Night magazine.
