Jane Eliza Leeson
LEESON, Jane Eliza. b. probably Wilford, Nottinghamshire, 1808 (baptized Nottingham, 18 December 1808); d. Leamington, Warwickshire, 18 November 1881. Little is known about Leeson’s early life. Her date of birth is given in various books as 1807, 1808 and 1809, but her age given at death as 72 together with the baptismal details suggest a birth date between 19 Nov and 18 Dec (inclusive) 1808. The place of birth is usually given as Wilford, Nottinghamshire (now part of Nottingham), and the place of baptism (St Mary’s Church, Nottingham) suggests that this is correct (not London, as is sometimes stated).
