James Abbington
ABBINGTON, Wilbur James, Jr. (Jimmie). b. Gary, West Virginia, 15 April 1960; d. Atlanta, Georgia, 27 September 2025. Abbington attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia (BA 1983), and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan (MM, 1995, DMA, 1999). He was a professor of music, Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland (1998-2003); associate professor of music, Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina; and director of the Shaw University Concert Choir (2003-2006).
