James Abbington
ABBINGTON, Wilbur James, Jr. (Jimmie). b. Gary, West Virginia, 15 April 1960. Abbington attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia (BA 1983), and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan (MM, 1995, DMA, 1999). He was a professor of music, Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland (1998-2003); associate professor of music, Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina; and director of the Shaw University Concert Choir (2003-2006); and is associate professor of church music and worship, Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta (2006- ), and adjunct professor of church music at Morehouse College, Atlanta.
