In the shadow of His wings. Jonathan Burtch Atchinson* (1840-1882).
First published in Salvation Echoes: For Sabbath School, Gospel, Prayer and Praise Meetings (Alliance, Ohio, 1882), based on Psalm 63: 7: ‘because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.’ It had three stanzas and a refrain:
In the shadow of His wings There is rest, sweet rest; There is rest from care and labor, There is rest for friend and neighbor; In the shadow of His wings There is rest, sweet rest, In the shadow of His wings There is rest, sweet rest.
Refrain:
There is rest, sweet rest, There is peace, sweet peace, There is joy, glad joy, In the shadow of His wings: There is...
