In the Name of God the Father. John W. Hewett* (1824-1886). This hymn was described by JJ, p. 520, as in ‘C.U.’ (Common Use). It was the first hymn in the Introduction section of The Church Hymnal for the Christian Year (1917), edited by Lady Victoria Carbery*, who dated it 1867: In the Name of God the Father,   In the Name of God the Son, In the Name of God the Spirit,   One in Three and Three in One.  In the Name which highest Angels   Speak not ere they veil their face, Crying “Holy, Holy, Holy,”   Come we to this sacred place.
