This traditional hymn is dated 1986. It is based on II Chronicles 7: 14-15: ‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place’. Stanza 2 paraphrases some of verse 15.
