If Christ had not been raised from death. Christopher Martin Idle* (1938- ).
Written in May 1984 at Limehouse, East London, in response to some well-publicized doubts about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was first published in the Church of England Newspaper (a weekly), 29 March 1985, and subsequently in Anglican Praise (1987), Sing Glory (1999), and Praise! (2000). It has appeared in books in the USA, including Worship and Rejoice (2001), the Lutheran Service Book (2006), and Singing the New Testament (2006), where it is set to a tune by John H. Stockton*.
It has a number of New Testament references, particularly to 1 Corinthians 15: 1-20.
