Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ. Johannes Agricola* (1492/4-1566). This hymn is printed in Wackernagel, Das Deutsche Kirchenlied III. 51-55, in two versions, one printed in Geistliche Lieder (Erfurt, 1531), the other in a broadsheet (n.d.). The latter was entitled ‘Ein neuwes lied, zu bitten umb Glauben, Liebe und Hoffnung, Und umb ein seliges leben (‘a new hymn, praying for faith, love and hope, and for a blessed life’), followed by ‘gemacht durch Jon Eyzleben des Hertz zoch Hans von sachsen pridiger’ (‘made by John Eisleben, preacher of Hans Duke of Saxony’).
