I know that my Redeemer liveth. Jessie Brown Pounds* (1861-1921). Based on Job 19: 25, this was written for an Easter Cantata by James H. Fillmore, Hope’s Messenger, published by the Fillmore Music House (Cincinnati, 1893). Its first appearance in a hymnal was in The Praise Hymnal: a collection of hymns and tunes, edited by Fillmore and Gilbert J. Ellis (Cincinnati and New York, 1896). The tune, HANNAH, was written by Fillmore and named after his mother.
