I am the Word that spoke and light was made (‘Take and eat’). Stanzas by James Quinn* (1919-2010); Refrain by Jan Michael Joncas* (1951- ).
Stanzas 1-3 were printed in Quinn’s New Hymns for All Seasons 2 (1980), an unpublished supplement to New Hymns for All Seasons (1969) in which Quinn was assisted by Victor Gaffney and Joseph Maccabe. They were found in Quinn’s later book, Praise for All Seasons (1994), set to SONG 24 by Orlando Gibbons* and STONELAW by the Scottish composer Thomas Wilson* (1927-2001):
