Hymns of Truth and Light
Hymns of Truth and Light (1998). Hymns of Truth and Light was prepared by the leadership and members of First Congregational Church Houston (FCC), founded in 1955 and affiliated with the United Church of Christ. The hymnal had its origins in 1995–1996 when the church’s hymnal search committee experienced frustration during the search process. After eighteen months of research for a hymnal to replace The Pilgrim Hymnal (1958), the committee had narrowed its recommendation to three hymnals—Hymns, Psalms, and Spiritual Songs (United Presbyterian, 1990), The Chalice Hymnal (Christian Church, Disciples, 1995), and The New Century Hymnal (UCC, 1995)—though none of these fully met the needs of...
