Holy Lamb, who thee receive. Anna Dober* (1713-1739), translated by John Wesley* (1703-1791). Dober’s text, beginning  ‘Du heiliges Kind’, was in ten 4-line stanzas. Wesley omitted verses 8 and 9: Man wagt sich hinan, man betet dich an, der engel der reicht das rauchwerk, das täglich zum lamme aufsteigt. (‘One worships, one prays; {this is] the angel of righteousness, the pillar of smoke that daily rises to the Lamb’). Erwürdiges lamm aus ewigem stamm, die heilige schaar, die liebet dich innig, du bist  es auch gar.
