Here in Christ we gather, love of Christ our calling. James Quinn* (1919-2010).  This hymn is indexed in most books as ‘God is love, and where true love is, God himself is there.’ This is the translation of the Latin Office Hymn for the liturgy of Maundy Thursday in the early Christian Church, ‘Ubi caritas et amor, ubi caritas, Deus ibi est’. Elsewhere in this Dictionary, this Latin chant is annotated as ‘Ubi caritas et amor’*: its modern popularity is attributed to the use made of it in the Taizé* and the skill of Jacques Berthier*.
