Hannoversches Gesangbuch

Hannoversches Gesangbuch (1646 onwards). The ‘Hannoversches Gesangbuch’ is the name given to the book published in various editions at Hannover and other north German cities, with its first title as New Ordentlich Gesang-Buch Sampt Einer nothwendingen Vorrede und Erinnerung Von dessen nützlichem Gebrauch (Hannover, 1646). Further editions appeared in Braunschweig (1648, 1652, 1653), Lüneburg (1657, 1659, 1660, 1662) and Göttingen (1676). The two major editions after 1646 were: Das Hannoverische newe ordentliche Gesangbuch zu beförderung der privat-andacht (‘to encourage private devotion’).
