Graham Kendrick

KENDRICK, Graham Andrew. b. Blisworth, Northamptonshire, 2 August 1950. He was the son of a Baptist minister; the family later moved to Essex and London. He started composing songs at 15 years of age, having taught himself to play the piano. In response to the Church’s lack of connection with youth culture during the 1960s, he formed an early interest in the use of rock and folk music for outreach and evangelism. He trained as an English/Ceramics teacher at Avery Hill College, Kent, but throughout this period he also composed and performed his own music, and after qualifying he decided to take a ‘gap year’ touring schools and colleges with a Christian music group.
