God, who stretched the spangled heavens. Catherine Cameron* (1927- ).
This was written ca. 1967 for the tune AUSTRIA. It was published in Contemporary Worship 1 (1969), the first volume of an inter-Lutheran series of hymn and worship samplers issued in preparation for the Lutheran Book of Worship (1978). Cameron revised the language for LBW, where the hymn was shortened to three verses, and this version appeared in the joint hymnal of the Anglican Church and the United Church of Canada, The Hymn Book (Toronto, 1971), set to CARN BREA, a hymn tune composed for the text by Derek Holman.
