Go forth and tell! O church of God awake. James Edward Seddon* (1915-1983).
This hymn of mission dates from 1964, when the author was living in Sidcup, Kent. He had returned from service with the Bible Churchmen’s Missionary Society (now Crosslinks) in Morocco and was then the society’s Home Secretary. It was published in the 1966 Youth Praise 1, set to the tune for which it was written, then recently composed by the compiler Michael Baughen* for ‘Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord’* by Timothy Dudley-Smith*, which it also accompanied there.
By the time HFTC appeared in 1984, this had been named GO FORTH and Seddon’s words presented with YANWORTH, specially composed by John...
