Gloria Gaither
GAITHER, Gloria Lee (née Sickal). b. Battle Creek, Michigan, 4 March 1942. She is one of two daughters of the marriage of W. Lee Sickal (1908-1974), a Church of God pastor, and Dorothy Effie (née Boster) (1909-93), an artist, writer, poet, and public speaker who fostered Gloria’s literary interests and writing skills. Gloria attended Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, (BS 1963), with majors in English, French, and Sociology. She attended Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, (MA 1991): her thesis was entitled ‘To a god unknown: a dramatic adaptation (with musical lyrics) of the novel by John Steinbeck’.
