Georgia Harkness

HARKNESS, Georgia Elma. b. Harkness, New York (the town was named after her grandfather), 21 April 1891; d. Claremont, California, 30 August 1974. Harkness attended Cornell University, Ithaca, New York (BA 1912), taught German, French, Greek and Latin in a high school in northern New York State; studied at Boston University (MA 1920, PhD 1923), as well as Harvard University, Yale Divinity School, and Union Theological Seminary, New York City.
