George Burden Bubier
BUBIER, George Burden. b. Reading, Berkshire, 2 February 1823; d. Acock’s Green, Warwickshire, 19 March 1869. Bubier worked in a bank before training for the Congregational ministry at Homerton College, then in the East End of London. He served congregations in Essex, London, Cambridge, and Salford, before becoming, for a tragically short time, Professor of Theology and Philosophy at Spring Hill Congregational College, Birmingham, in 1864.
Bubier collaborated with George MacDonald* and his brother Charles to produce Hymns and Sacred Songs for Sunday-schools and Social Worship (Manchester, 1855). He would no doubt have met George MacDonald during his [Bubier’s] ministry at Salford, when...
