From heaven you came, helpless babe
From heaven you came, helpless babe. Graham Kendrick* (1950- ).
This song is usually known as ‘The Servant King’. It was written for the Spring Harvest* event of 1984, ‘to explore the vision of Christ as the servant who would wash the disciples’ feet but who was also the Creator of the universe’. It has become one of the most popular of Kendrick’s songs, and is to be found in almost every book published since that date, including RS, A&MCP, the Irish Church Hymnal and CH4. Kendrick’s tune is entitled THE SERVANT KING.
