Frederick Arthur Gore Ouseley
OUSELEY, (Sir) Frederick Arthur Gore. b. London, 12 August 1825; d. Hereford, 6 April 1889. His father, Sir Gore Ouseley (1770–1844), was an ambassador and amateur musician, and was made a baronet in 1808. Frederick was a child prodigy whose early compositions show great imagination and variety. Coming from a privileged background, he was educated privately until he entered Christ Church, Oxford (matriculated 1843, BA 1846). He had inherited his father’s title in 1844. Ordained deacon in 1849, he became curate of St Barnabas, Pimlico, where anti-ritualist riots took place the following year.
