Every star shall sing a carol. Sydney Carter* (1915-2004).
Published in 9 Carols or Ballads (London, 1964) with the date 1961, probably referring to performances earlier than 1964 and a recording by Donald Swann. Included in the Methodist Hymns and Songs (1969) and the Anglican 100HfT (1969), it has appeared in over 20 collections of hymns and worship songs. Hymnary.org notes that in the USA it is found in the Roman Catholic Worship II (Chicago: GIA Publications, 1975), the Mennonite Sing and Rajoice! (1979), and the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal (1985); and in Canada in The Hymn Book of the Anglican Church of Canada and the United Church of Canada (Toronto, 1971).
