Eternal God, your love’s tremendous glory

Eternal God, your love’s tremendous glory. Alan Gaunt* (1935-2023).  This was published in The Hymn Texts of Alan Gaunt (1991), and in the URC hymnal Rejoice and Sing (RS) in the same year. A note in the former gives the date of composition as 25 August 1985. It had five stanzas: the first three explore the features of the Holy Trinity: 1. Eternal God, your love’s tremendous glory  2. Eternal Son of God, uniquely precious  3. Eternal Spirit, with us like a mother  This was followed by a stanza on ‘love’s trinity’ itself, and a further stanza praying for the Holy Trinity to ‘complete your image in us’.
