Elizabeth Cosnett
COSNETT, Elizabeth Joan. b. Liverpool, 17 May 1936; d. Liverpool, 22 January 2024. She was educated at Calder High School, Liverpool, St Hugh’s College, Oxford (BA, 1958), and the University of Liverpool (MA dissertation on ‘The Poet as Hymn Writer: a study of the hymns of George Wither, William Cowper and Robert Bridges’, 1975). She taught for ten years in grammar and comprehensive schools in her native city before joining the staff of St Katharine’s College, Liverpool in 1969 (later Liverpool Institute of Higher Education, now Liverpool Hope University) as a Lecturer in English Literature.
