Ebenezer Josiah Newell
NEWELL, Ebenezer Josiah. b. Southwark, London, 22 June 1853; d. Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire, 6 June 1916. He was educated at Worcester College, Oxford (BA 1876, MA 1878). Before ordination (deacon 1890, priest 1891) he was a schoolmaster, ending up as headmaster of Neath Proprietary School, South Wales. He served a curacy at Neath, and then became curate of Newton-Nottage, near Bridgend, Glamorgan (1891-1900). He was rector of Neen Sollars, Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire (1900-16), until his death.
