Derek Kidner
KIDNER, Frank Derek. b. Acton, Middlesex, 22 September 1913; d. Histon, Cambridge, 27 November 2008. Derek Kidner’s first training was as a musician (ARCM, 1933), but in 1937 he entered Christ’s College, Cambridge, to read first Economics and then Theology (BA 1940, MA 1944). He was ordained (deacon 1941, priest 1942), and after a six-year curacy and five years as vicar of Felsted, Essex, he spent the remainder of his ministry in theological teaching, study and writing. He was Senior Tutor, Oak Hill Theological College (1951-64); and Warden of Tyndale House, Cambridge, a study centre for Biblical research (1964-78).
