David Preston
PRESTON, David George. b. London, 1 November 1939. He was educated at Archbishop Tenison’s Grammar School, Kennington, and Keble College Oxford. He was later awarded a PhD for a thesis on the French poet Pierre Emmanuel. He taught French at Leighton Park School, Reading (1963-67), in Zambia (with other subjects) (1967-68), and at Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria (1968-79). He was a book editor for the Inter-Varsity Press, Leicester (1979-83), returning to French teaching at Reading School (1983-96). He retired to the Sherborne area in 2008.
