Das Kreuz ist aufgerichtet. Kurt Ihlenfeld* (1901-1972). This was the product of two ‘Kirchentags’, one at Cologne in 1965, the other at Hannover in 1967. It was first published in an experimental book, Werkbuch Gottesdienst. Texte – Modelle –Bericht (Wuppertal, 1967), and then in Liederheft. Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentag (Hannover, 1967). It was included by Dieter Trautwein* in Der Frieden ist unter uns. Neue Geistliche Lieder vom Evangelischen Kirchentag (Regensburg, 1967). It has echoes of Isaiah 53 (‘he was wounded for our transgressions...’), but it belongs also to the tradition of the ‘Exaltatio crucis’ (cf. ‘Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim’*), from John 12:...
