Dale Wood

WOOD, Dale. b. Glendale, Los Angeles County, California, 13 February 1934; d. Sea Ranch, Sonoma County, California, 13 April 2003. Wood was a distinguished composer, editor, organist, and choral director, whose Polish father at immigration shortened the family name from Wojtkiewiecz to Wood. He was raised in the Lutheran tradition, and at age 13 won the American Lutheran Church national hymn-writing contest. Following graduation from Franklin High School in nearby Highland Park, he attended Occidental College, Eagle Rock neighbourhood, Los Angeles, but did not complete his degree.
