Contemporary worship music in Taiwan
Taiwanese Christian worship traditionally centered on congregational hymn singing and choral music accompanied by instruments such as the piano and pipe organ. Beginning in the late twentieth century, however, churches gradually encountered new musical influences from abroad and from local cultural movements, contributing to the emergence of contemporary praise and worship styles.
Imported praise and worship recordings from the United States played a significant role in this development. These recordings were first distributed in Taiwan by the Glory Mission Center(榮光傳道會), which served as a local agent for the American record company Maranatha! Music.
