Come we that love the Lord

Come we that love the Lord. Isaac Watts* (1674-1748). This appeared, with ten 4-line stanzas, in Hymns and Spiritual Songs (1707), Book II, ‘Composed on Divine Subjects, Conformable to the Word of God’, with the title ‘Heavenly Joy on Earth.’ Watts himself made changes for the Second Edition of 1709, which have been retained in most subsequent hymnbooks. The original stanza 8 was: The Men of Grace have found Young glory here below, Young Glory here on earthly Ground From Faith and Hope may grow.
