Come, ye thankful people, come. Henry Alford* (1810-1871). First published in Alford’s Psalms and Hymns, adapted to the Sundays and Holydays throughout the year (1844), and later, in a revised text, ‘at the request of the Tract Committee of the Christian Knowledge Society’, in the fourth edition of his Poetical Works published in 1865. It was printed in the First Edition of A&M (1861) with alterations to the fourth verse, and printed with further alterations in The Year of Praise (1867).
