Christa Weiß
WEIß, Christa (Christa Werner-Weiß). b. 30 September 1925. The daughter of a pastor of the ‘Bekennende Kirche’, the ‘Confessing Church’ that was in opposition to National Socialism, Christa Werner was associated with poets such as Jochen Klepper* during World War II. After the war she studied Education, with a special interest in the work of publishers in education. She lectured at Gelnhausen and Wuppertal (1954-62), before going to Altenkirchen as ‘Dozentin’ at the Evangelische Landjugendakademie (1962-68). She then worked freelance at Göttingen for the Deutsche Verband Evangelischer Bücherein (DVEB). She became closely involved with the ‘Kirchentag’ movement, for which she wrote songs...
