Carl P. Daw, Jr.
DAW, Carl Pickens, Jr. b. Louisville, Kentucky, 18 March 1944. Carl Daw was born into a Baptist preacher’s family. He received degrees in English from Rice University, Houston, Texas (BA 1966), and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville (MA, PhD, 1970); he taught English at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia (1970-78). In 1981 he received a divinity degree from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. After ordination in the Protestant Episcopal Church, he served as assistant rector, Christ and Grace Church, Petersburg, Virginia (1981-84) and vicar-chaplain, St Mark’s Chapel, University of Connecticut (1984-93).
