First drafted in the early 1970s, this text underwent many revisions before appearing in MHfT (1980) and thus in A&MNS. It was soon included in several major denominational hymnals in the UK and the USA, such as HP, RS, HFTC, A&MCP, and A&MRW, usually with ‘man’ changed to ‘we’ in line 1.
