Bright the vision that delighted
Bright the vision that delighted. Richard Mant* (1776-1848).
This hymn, based on Isaiah 6: 1-3, was first published in Mant’s Ancient Hymns from the Roman Breviary, for Domestick Use, every morning and evening of the week, and on the holy-days of the Church: to which are added Original Hymns, principally of Commemoration and Thanksgiving for Christ’s Holy Ordinances (1837). This was one of the original hymns. It was in four 8-line stanzas, entitled ‘Hymn Commemorative of the ‘‘Thrice Holy’’’:
