Blessed Savior, we adore thee
Blessed Savior, we adore thee. Baylus B. McKinney* (1886-1952). This hymn, like others by McKinney, comes from his tenure of office as music editor for the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. It was written in 1942 and published in The Teacher (July 1942), the magazine for Baptist Sunday School teachers. It was included in the Baptist Hymnal (1956) and has remained in all subsequent editions (1975, 1991, 2008). The hymn is also known, perhaps better known, by its refrain, ‘Glorious is Thy Name, O Lord’. McKinney’s tune was entitled GLORIOUS NAME in the 1956 book...
