Baylor University Sacred Music Collection  Baylor University was chartered in 1844 by the Congress of the Republic of Texas and officially established in 1845 in Independence, Texas. In 1886 Baylor and Waco Universities consolidated to form Baylor University at Waco, Texas, in the center of the state.  Most of Baylor University’s sacred music collection is in the Arts and Special Collections Research Center.
