Anne Dutton
DUTTON, Anne. b. Northampton, England, 1692; d. Great Gransden, Huntingdonshire, 18 November 1765. Anne Dutton (née Williams) was the daughter of devoutly religious parents who attended the Independent Congregational Church of Castle Hill, pastored by Rev. John Hunt (d. 1709)—a highly influential figure in Anne’s childhood who taught her Scripture and hymnody, which she eagerly read and memorized. After Hunt’s death, Dutton was baptized and received into a Calvinist Baptist church under the pastorate of Rev. John Moore (d. 1726), whose preaching shaped and informed her understanding of Calvinist doctrine (Haykin, 2016, p. 54). Though the exact date of her birth is unknown, she was baptized...
