Albert E. Brumley
BRUMLEY, Albert Edward. b. near Spiro, Oklahoma, 29 Oct 1905; d. Powell, Missouri, 15 Nov 1977. Brumley was born on a cotton farm. ‘Music, both sacred and secular, formed an important part of Brumley’s childhood. His parents were firmly committed Campbellite Protestants, [whose worship excluded instruments] but his father was also a noted fiddler, and his mother enjoyed singing parlor songs. Music was integral to the family’s weekly church gatherings and house parties.
